Roussos scored 3/6 in KPMC in Korea

Nicholas Roussos represented Cyprus in the 6th KPMC that was held in Pohang, in Korea. Nicholas won games against India, Ecuador and Lithuania, and lost from Chile, Turkey, and Argentina. Cyprus secured the 46th place from 70 participants.

Go Meeting at Governors beach at 20/11/2011

A Brief Go Meeting between members of Cyprus Go Association and a Limassol-based GO Group will be held at 20th of November 2011 at Governors beach. If anyone is interested to go from Nicosia please contact Dimitris Regginos.

Cyprus Go Championship on 26-27 November 2011

Cyprus Go Championship will be taking place on the weekend 26-27 November 2011 at the ESOBGA clubhouse. Please mark your calendars and make effort to attend all rounds. A change in this year's Championship is that the top 4 players from the first 3 rounds will play in a knock-out to determine the 2011 Champion. Still, everyone is welcome to play in all 5 rounds.

SportAccord World Mind Games Online Tournament

Pandanet is organizing a Go tournament and the winner will get the chance to visit the Sport Accord World Mind Games in Beijing in December. The tournament will be held on the IGS server. Cypriot Go players are encourage to participate.

Game Series - Voudouris vs Regginos

A ten game match series is organised between Greece and Cyprus Top players Alexios Voudouris (3d) and Dimitris Regginos (1d). The Games are played every Thursday on the KGS server. Below are the games played so far and the results:

Go workshop planned for 15 May

Cyprus Go Association will organise a go workshop.

When: Sunday, 15th May, 2011

Where: At the ESOBGA club house in Nicosia (address and map link below).
Why: The workshop objective is to help beginners learn how to study and improve in Go. It will include lectures, games and game reviews.

memur74 wins the Spring 2011 Online Knock-out Handicap Go Tournament

memur74 wins the Spring 2011 Online Knock-out Handicap Go Tournament which was played in March 2011 at KGS. The tournament was open to Cyprus Go association members as well as participants to Cyprus Room of the KGS Server.

Friendship Tournament - Tsumego problems competition

At 25th of March 2011 a tsumego problems competition happens. The Competition was part of the Frendship tournament organized by SPE Strovolou.

Prize giving ceremony will take place on Friday 25th March 2011 at Hilton Park, Nicosia. Everyone is welcome for a cocktail reception.

Results of the Friendship Tournament

Nurman Aylanc swept the Friendship Go Tournament winning all of his 5 games. This is the first tournament he wins in his Go career. Nurman will be the representative of Cyprus in the World Amateur Go Championship to be held in Japan in May.

Cyprus champion Demetris Reginos came second with 4 wins out of 5, losing only to Nurman.

Argyris Fellas managed to secure third place after a close win of 2.5 points against Melina Panayi in the second day of the tournament. In the first day Argyris scored a victory over Nicholas Roussos who got fourth place.

Update from first day of the Friendship Go tournament

Nurman Aylanc scored 3 out of 3 in the first day of the Friendship Go Tournament.
Nurman , Cyprus No 3 in the EGF ranking, scored a glorious win over Cyprus No 1 Demetris Regginos for the first time in his career. He also scored 2 wins against Argyris Fellas and Nicholas Roussos, Cyprus no 5 and 4 respectively.

In the tournament participated 9 go players. There will be another 2 rounds tomorrow. The tournament is held at the club house of Parnassos Strovolou. Tomorrow’s games include mostly handicap games between top players and the remaining (mostly double digit kyu) players.
